چکیده

Abstract: Introduction: Embelin, a phytoconstituent obtained from Embelia ribes of the Myrsinaceae family, has anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-fertility, analgesic, antidiabetic, anti-depressant and wound healing activities. It is hydrophobic in nature leading to low bioavailability. Aim: The present study aims improve water solubility rate dissolution Embelin by complexation with β-cyclodextrin. Methods: Inclusion complexes were prepared physical mixture, kneading co-precipitation methods. Characterization was carried out Fourier-Transform Infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy vitro study. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) used analyze method. Antimicrobial studies against Staphylococcus aureus Escherichia coli colony counting Results: Phase showed forms complex β-cyclodextrin ratio 1:2. FT-IR confirmed DSC SEM also formation In that time release 50 % (t50) order 15 min, 30 60 min for coprecipitation, method mixture respectively. Complexes coprecipitation 2 log reductions number S. 1 reduction E. comparison Embelin. Conclusion: resulted largest percent drug content, enhanced aqueous antibacterial activity. Enhancement of Solubility of Albendazole by Complexation with -cyclodextrin

A high dosage of albendazole (ABZ) is required for treating systemic helminthe infections because of its low solubility. Aiming at increasing ABZ solubility, complexation with beta-cyclodextrin ( -CD) using aqueous and acetic acid solutions as ABZ solubilizer was studied. In aqueous -CD, complexation increased solubility 53.4 times, giving a complex equilibrium constant of 1266 L mol with a max...

Solubility Enhancement of Domperidone Fast Disintegrating Tablet Using Hydroxypropyl-β-Cyclodextrin by Inclusion Complexation Technique

Domperidone Maleate (DOM), an antiemetic drug, has been used in treatment of adults and children. It has low aqueous solubility and hence low bioavailability. In present study, an attempt has been made to enhance the solubility of DOM by inclusion complexation with Hydroxypropyl-βCyclodextrin (HP-β-CD) using kneading technique and formulation of fast disintegrating tablets by using Sodium Starc...

Enhancement of Naringenin Bioavailability by Complexation with Hydroxypropoyl-β-Cyclodextrin

The abundant flavonoid aglycone, naringenin, which is responsible for the bitter taste in grapefruits, has been shown to possess hypolipidemic and anti-inflammatory effects both in vitro and in vivo. Recently, our group demonstrated that naringenin inhibits hepatitis C virus (HCV) production, while others demonstrated its potential in the treatment of hyperlipidemia and diabetes. However, narin...

Aqueous Solubility Enhancement of Some Flavones by Complexation with Cyclodextrins

The inclusion complexes of cyclodextrins (CDs) with flavones in aqueous solution were investigated by phase solubility measurements. The effect of β-cyclodextrin (β-CD), heptakis (2,6-di-O-methyl) β-cyclodextrin (DM-β-CD) and 2-hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (HP-β-CD) on the aqueous solubility of three flavones, namely, chrysin, apigenin and luteolin was investigated, respectively. Solubility enh...

Effect of cyclodextrin complexation on phenylpropanoids’ solubility and antioxidant activity

The complexation abilities of five cyclodextrins (CDs) with seven phenylpropanoids (PPs) were evaluated by UV-visible spectroscopy, phase solubility studies and molecular modeling. Formation constants (K f), complexation efficiency (CE), PP:CD molar ratio, increase in formulation bulk and complexation energy were assessed. All complexes exhibited a 1:1 stoichiometry but their stability was infl...
